Bimini Bahamas - Cacique Awards ... and the Winners are ...

Once a year, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism honor the "best of the best" in the country's hospitality industry through the prestigious Cacique Awards.

Bimini Bahamas was well represented!  Congratulations go out to all of Bimini's tourism ambassadors who were honored at the 16th Cacique Awards in Nassau Saturday night!!!



Bimini boasted finalists in 6 different categories ... and 3 took home the final prize!

Grant Johnson & Katie Grudecki : WINNERS in the Sustainable Tourism Category
Activities Directors for Bimini Sands Resort & Marina,  Katie & Grant established Bimini's first comprehensive eco-tourism program, offering both land & marine excursions focused on the wildlife and natural beauty of Bimini. They have helped promote Bimini as a premier eco-tourism destination, and are strong supporters of Bimini's Marine Protected Area Campaign!

"Bonefish Tommy" Sewell: Finalist in the Sports & Leisure Category

James Pinder: Finalist in both the Handicraft Category & the Creative Arts Category

Paul Levarity: Finalist in the Transportation Category

"Bonefish Ebbie" David: WINNER in the Sports & Leisure Category
Ebbie is an outstanding local bonefishing guide who also owns his own lodge & restaurant. His vibrant persona & dedication to his customers has made him one of the most highly regarded guides in The Bahamas!

And Pictured in Front, WINNER of the Clement T. Maynard Lifetime Achievement Award, Bimini's own local legend, Nathaniel "Piccolo Pete" Saunders!  This 100-year-old Biminite,  born November 7, 1914, has been entertaining locals and visitors alike for over 80 years. He has performed for the likes of Ernest Hemmingway, Martin Luther King Jr., Richard Nixon and even Al Capone, among others.
